PIs of General Access proposals can add new samples in the PNCC User Portal. It is expected that all approved proposals utilize the samples they submitted during peer-review initially. Additional samples that align with the overall scientific scope of the original proposal or build upon prior samples may be added.
For example, proposing to extend a current study to a new isoform, homolog, mutant and/or addition of ligand or buffer conditions would be acceptable. However, adding samples from a completely different or biologically unrelated system (e.g., switching from an ion transporter to a ribosome complex) would require a new proposal submission.
Adding samples must be done in the Portal by the PI before sending new samples/grids to PNCC. Requested BSL-2 grids undergo additional approval steps for evaluating the required Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) document.
To do this the PI will go to:
- Proposal list in the PNCC User Portal.
- From there select the applicable project number. This will open the proposal details page.
- Navigate to the Samples tab.
- Select Add New Sample. This open a drop down.
- Select the hyperlink text "+Add experimental sample."
- Enter required details here and select the OK button when completed.
